The day all junior football fans have been patiently waiting for had arrived. Our new management team of John Crooks, Gerry McLaughlin and Danny Charters have put in a massive amount of work moulding a relitively new side at Fullarton. Pre-season success competing in the Shettleston FC, 4 team tournament was a good innitiation for the management team to asses the quality of the playing staff at the club.
NEXT UP, was the sectional league cup, which would be a good indication of just how well prepaired the club were, before the start of our Super Premier League campaign. After a great start at Fullarton, the Vale saw off Rutherglen Glencairn in fashion by beating the first division outfit 3 - 1. By the final group match we needed no less than a victory against East Kilbride Thistle away from home. That was not to be, as East Kilbride got the only goal of the final group match and it was they, who now progress on to the quarter finals.
TO-DAY, started off with an early morning pitch inspection after a few days of heavy rain threatened to have the opening league match of the season cancelled. We have to thank the groudstaff for their effortless work pre season, as the pitch stood up to the inclement weather and passed the referee's inspection hands down, it was day 1, game on at Fullarton Park.
Bellshill Athletic FC manager, Tam MacDonald arrived at Fullarton Park with his Premier League side looking to snatch an away victory and secure 3 opening league points.
The Bellshill gaffer must have thought his job was almost done when Garry Fleming hit the opener and only goal of the first half, slotting the ball past debutant goalkeeper Scott Threlfall (Scooter). The Vale played some good posession football in periods but never really put the visitors under any real pressure. As the game was drawing to a close with the points heading to Bellshill, a late free kick was awarded to the Vale just outside the box and the boys siezed their chance to salvage something from the game. The ball was fired in goalwards and well blocked by the defensive wall, only to fall at the boot of player manager John Crooks, who slammed the ball past the goalkeeper to level the score.
Todays SSPL match finished 1 - 1 and both football clubs now sit mid table.

same old same old. moaning sinky, we got rid of paul mcglaughlin for that reason among others? has the makings of a good squad, big halliday looks ok. the usual lack of discipline could yet again be the downfall. need to collect early points though before the onslought of winter. looking forwards to the season ahead, onwards and upwards monthevale
